FORMULA 1 ROARS INTO SHEFFIELD
With roads closed, metal barriers going up, temporary stands erected, the starting gantry, temporary pits, the roar of the engines with speeds in excess of 200 mph – could this be the Monaco of the North?
Perhaps, not quite! On Thursday 12th May at Sheffield Auction Gallery’s Specialist Collectable Toys Auction it is all on a much smaller scale i.e. 1/12th and 1/18th.
A Sheffield man’s life time model collection of Grand Prix, Formula and sports car models. Representing the history of the sport from the 1930’s until the modern day, from manufacturers such as CMC, Minichamps, Autoart, Revel, Quartzo, Hotwheels, Polistal, Carousel One, Maisto and Schuco amoung others. Models include Auto Union, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lotus, Brabham, McLaren, Williams and Renault, featuring drivers such as Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Alain Prost and Nelson Piquet.
One model of a Mercedes-Benz 300SLR has even been in the hands of the original driver and signed by him – the infamous Stirling Moss.
In total in excess of 300 models, many with original box’s are being offered in Sheffield Auction Gallery’s live internet auction.
