New Identity and Location for ELR Auctions
Exciting times ahead for the regions oldest Auctioneers & Valuers as a new chapter begins in Sheffield
Whilst the Christmas and New Year break is usually a relaxing time for most businesses it was certainly not the case for ELR Auctions, who recently held their final auction not only for 2010, but also for their current location at Shalesmoor in Sheffield.
It marked the end of a period of over twelve years of continued business growth and development by ELR since their separation from Eadon Lockwood and Riddle Estate Agents and now begins an exciting new chapter in the company’s future as a prestigious new purpose built Auction centre has been constructed over the last year by ELR at the former site of the South Yorkshire Police building at Windsor Road, off Chesterfield Road, Heeley, S8, just a short step from the Derbyshire border and the company will be trading as the newly redesigned “Sheffield Auction Gallery”.
The festive period meant a huge push to complete building works on the new saleroom and the logistical challenge of moving a large business across the city.
The full team of specialist valuers will be available at the new saleroom for pre-sale advice and valuations on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm (and by appointment for specialist collections), with the new auction gallery opening to begin accepting consignments on Wednesday 5th January 2011.
Director, Elizabeth Dashper, said “we are very excited about this new stage in our business development, we had outgrown our previous saleroom and advances in technology over the last few years such as the new live internet auctions meant that we needed to radically overhaul our facilities. We were unable to do that at Shalesmoor and after looking at other locations the decision was made that the way forward was to build a new facility to our specification, right down to the auction Saleday coffee shop.”
The range of specialist auction sales will also be expanding in 2011 along with a number of valuation days planned for locations throughout the Derbyshire and Yorkshire regions. Whilst the recent economic times have seen many businesses struggling, the auctioneers have found that the market for specialist auction sales such as Militaria, Sporting Memorabilia and Fine Art has continued to increase and look forward to a very full schedule of these sales in the forthcoming year.
The inaugural auction will be the Quarterly Antique & Fine Art sale on Friday 21st January, again held live on the internet in real time, and will include another consignment of paintings and prints and furniture items offered on behalf of Museums Sheffield.
